Journal

The new Múlt és Jövő (or MeJ, as it is often abbreviated, with the addition UF, that is, ‘new series’) first appeared in December 1988 with an anthology. In 1989 two issues saw the light of day, and from 1990 it has regularly been published four times a year.

We publish reports, interviews, essays, and scholarly articles in history, sociology, Judaism, literature, and the fine arts. Most of our issues appear as special thematic editions. In recent years we have focused on Jewish culture of individual countries (Israel, Poland, France, Germany) in order to create contacts with local intellectual forums and personalities. The annotated bibliography of books with Jewish themes of our “Observer” column is obligatory reading for those interested in Jewish culture. Because the number of our subscribers abroad, including institutional subcriptions, is steadily growing we now include a table of contents and abstracts in English.

We now post our renewed homepage in pdf format. Soon, our 20th issue will appear, which will include an up-to-date bibliography. At the same time we don’t want to distance ourselves completely from the Gutenberg Galaxy and hope that our readers will take advantage of the opportunity to purchase the printed version of our publications, which are announced on our homepage.
